April 2021 Episodes and Happenings
Silicon Valley Ghost Work, Wild Horses, Cyborgs, and the Business of Meaning
Hey there fellow humans,
If you're in the northern hemisphere, I hope your spring is off to a safe start. We're super excited to bring you some great new episodes this month including conversations with MacArthur Genius Mary Gray about her book Ghostwork that explores the hidden lives and difficult labor of the people who make technology seem magical and seamless. We'll also head to Spain (virtually) with anthropologist John Hartigan about his multi-species anthropology investigating plant scientists, plants, wild horses and more. His latest book is Shaving the Beasts.
We will be doing book giveaways for both these books, so stay tuned for how you can win a copy!
I'll be doing a special live video conversation as part of the Human Science club with cyborg anthropologist Marques Anderson on Tuesday April 6 at 6pm EST. Event is FREE and open to the public

Over the past 5+ years, MotivBase has seen the power of anthropology and how it can serve business leaders in predicting where culture is going and what will be more relevant to their consumers in the short and long term.
In this series of conversations with some of the biggest and brightest business minds, our CEO and Cultural Anthropologist Ujwal Arkalgud will be talking about how anthropology is critical at decoding the implicit meanings that get assigned to cultural topics, ideas, issues, and trends. In each session, Ujwal and a guest speaker will unearth and showcase the value of anthropological thinking in driving innovation in an environment that is culturally becoming increasingly fragmented and complex.
That's it for now, stay tuned for the latest episodes, and as always, please get in touch and say hi! I love checking in with you and hearing what you're up to, what you love about TAL and what you want more of.
talk soon,
Adam
